Adeptus Mechanicus
The Adeptus Mechanicus, with their twisted combination of engineering and religion, have always been a personal favourite. So when I was looking for a fun theme for a Space Marine army, it wasn't long until they reared their robotic heads!

The concept was to have an army that could be used using the "Counts As" rule, in order to make them suitable for official Games Workshop tournaments and so on. I also want them to be quite adaptable- this one army could use the rules for Space Marines, Space Wolves, Dark Angels, Witchhunters... The army are elite Adeptus Mechanicus troopers, defenders of their Forge Worlds.

This is a basic trooper, one of the backbones of my army. Armed with a bolter. This particular model uses the torso of an old Space Crusade model I had in my bitz box- the army features lots of recycling of old models like this.

Work In Progress
Some steps in the creation of models for this army. As you can see, the torsoes are all plastic Space Marines- either multipart ones or ones from boxed game sets (Space Crusade, 40k 2nd Ed, Assault on Black Reach). They have their legs and heads removed, and the chests filed smooth. The shoulder pads are filed smooth and then have greenstuff Adeptus Mechanicus symbols added. The lower half is made from three bits of wire plus a load of modelling putty. Finally the heads are Westwind Productions WW2 gasmasked heads, cut in half to just leave the odd helmet and the huge lenses.

My workbench! It's a bit untidy, but you can see the production line :)

That's all the pics for now, I'm afraid. You might like to go back to my main 40k page?
